The Case for Christian Preparedness
The biblical foundation: why preparation is faithful, obedient, and urgent for every believer today.
Buy on AmazonTrust God. Obey Him. Be ready. Preparation is not the opposite of faith — it is faith in action.
“The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” — Proverbs 22:3
Most congregations have never had a single conversation about real-world readiness — physical, financial, or spiritual.
Comfort has dulled discernment. We assume tomorrow will look like today, even as the world clearly tells us otherwise.
Jesus told us difficult times would come. He said it so we would not be caught unaware.
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass.”
Two objections come up every time. Both deserve a clear, biblical answer.
“God will provide — I don’t need to prepare.”
God did provide for Noah — by telling him to build an ark. He provided for Egypt and Israel — through Joseph storing grain for seven years. In both cases, provision came through obedience, not in spite of it. Preparation was the means by which God’s provision arrived.
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house.”
“Prepping is fear, not faith.”
Scripture commands the opposite. The prudent take refuge. The ant stores in summer. The man who fails to provide for his household is called worse than an unbeliever. Preparation done in obedience to God is not fear — it is stewardship, love, and trust.
“But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
No. It is obedience. Throughout Scripture, God’s people prepared — and God called it faith.
Warned by God, he built the ark. Years of obedient preparation — that was his faith.
Stored grain for seven years of plenty so a nation would survive seven years of famine.
Proverbs holds her up as wisdom: she gathers in summer so she is ready in winter.
“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: which… provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.”
Written for believers who want clear scripture, sober truth, and practical next steps — without fear, without hype.
